The Turkish situation has been growing in seriousness recently for several causes.  The allied supreme council has about completed its draft of the proposed peace treaty, thru which the Turks are to be deprived of their century-long control of the Dardanelles and the Bosphorus and lose territory containing approximately four-fifths of the nation’s population.

With a view to stopping the renewed massacre of the Armenians, the allies have sent strong naval reinforcements to the Bosphorus so that their guns command the parliament building and the sultan’s palace.  Another serious factor is the nationalists movement headed by Mustapha Kemal Pasha, which threatens the overthrow of the government if allied demands are met.

The cabinet was formed last October.
