King Resolution Urges Restoration of Political Independence
Restoration of Armenia’s political independence by the allied nations is urged in a resolution introduced today by Senator King (Democrat) of Utah, and referred to the Foreign Relations Committee.
The resolution suggests that military measures to be taken expel armed Turks and Kurds from Armenia and to protect the natives from recurrence of the long continued massacres.
Senator King said the policy of the allied powers was to leave the Armenian race facing extinction. Under the German peace treaty, he said, the allies were bound to set up a protected state in Armenia adding that this could not be done if Turkey was to be allowed Constantinople.
He expressed regret that the Armenians could obtain only “lip service” in the allied countries for the alleviation of their tragedy.
